Our job is to grow the area to become a powerful domain. Stronghold Next doesn’t differ much from the previous installments of the series – we are occupied with expanding the village and the titular stronghold, as well as engaging in wars with other lords. However, Stronghold Next contains a number of new elements that have enhanced the gameplay. The game mainly focuses on economic (village management) and military aspects (battles that employ various siege techniques). Stronghold 2

The Master Plan – 19th April 2005.

In 2001, Firefly studio began a series of strategy games, and now the second installment has arrived. Rather than tinkering with gameplay mechanics, the developers chose to expand upon the best features of the original game. Players once again have the option to embark on two separate campaigns, one focusing on the economic aspects and the other on military tactics. The arsenal of available siege machines and defense tools has been greatly expanded, enhancing the realism of the game. Additionally, players can now employ various battle formations to gain an edge in combat. The economic aspect of the game has also seen improvements, with nearly 140 buildings and 20 different production chains to manage. A new element has been introduced, requiring players to keep their stronghold clean to prevent the outbreak of plague or epidemics. The most striking change is the fully three-dimensional graphics engine, which allows players to view their settlements from a top-down perspective. Moreover, battles, involving up to 1000 units, can now take place both inside and outside buildings.
